Championship Regulations 

The Championship will be conducted over 54 holes of stroke play on May 20-22, 2008. Flights are comprised of approximately 16 players and are determined by scores after 36 holes.

Eligibility

The tournament shall be open to any female (at birth) amateur golfer, whose primary residence is North or South Carolina based on her federal tax returns, with an established USGA Handicap Index, and who has paid her WCGA annual dues or is a member of a club which has paid its annual WCGA dues prior to the entry deadline. Any applicant whose club has not joined the WCGA may join for her club or as an individual by paying the $30 annual dues in addition to her entry fee. The field shall be drawn from the 96 players with the lowest Handicap Index whose entry fees have been paid before the closing of entries. All WCGA Board members are eligible to play and will constitute part of the field of 96.

Two sets of tees will be used for the 2008 WCGA Championship. With the exception of Super Seniors, any player with an index of 6.5 or lower will be required to play from the Championship Tees. Additionally, any player, regardless of index, may opt to play from the Championship Tees.

The WCGA Champion and Senior Champion will be determined from contestants playing the Championship Tees. The Super Senior Champion will be determined from contestants playing the Carolinas Tees.

The WCGA Champion, Runner-up, and Senior winners will automatically qualify for the 2008 Carolinas/Virginias Women’s Team Matches.
 

Entries

Entries are subject to approval or rejection at any time, either before or during the Championship by the WCGA Championship Committee.

Entry fee for the tournament is $150 which includes bag storage, all green fees, cart fees for 3 tournament rounds, range balls prior to tournament play, dinner banquet, and awards luncheon.

 A $75 check payable to the WCGA and a copy of your handicap index must accompany each entry form and must be received no later than April 26, 2008. An entry with the wrong “payable to” or incorrect amount will be returned and the entry invalidated. At registration, a $75 check payable to Sunset CC will be collected.

Confirmation of entry acceptance or rejection will be emailed to entrants by April 30, 2008 as well as be available on the WCGA  website:   www.wcgagolf.org

Please notify the Tournament Administrator of any withdrawal. The entry fee of $75 will be refunded only if notification is given before May 10th.  Thereafter, no refunds will be given for any cancellations or withdrawals.

Practice Round

Practice round tee times will be available for players on Monday May 19th from 10:00-4:00pm. Tee times may be reserved through the Pro Shop at (803) 773-7220 after May 6th.

Tournament registration will be at the Sunset Country Club from 10:00am-5:00pm on Monday May 19th.  Any late arrivals must notify the Tournament Chair Cathy Robinson (803 983-6706) by no later than 5:00pm on May 19th.

All players must wear appropriate golf attire and soft spikes. NO denim is allowed on the club property. No food or beverages purchased elsewhere may be brought to the course. All purchases at Sunset Country Club will be for CASH ONLY.

Prizes

*Championship: winner, runner-up.

*Medalist: low gross through first 2 rounds.

*Flights: first, second, third, and fourth place.

*Seniors (50 years and over): first, second, and third place.

*Super Seniors (65 years and over): first, second, and third place.

 All players are eligible to compete for Championship and flight prizes. Senior and Super Senior must also register in their respective divisions. Ties for the Championship, Medalist, Senior and Super Senior winner will be decided by a sudden-death playoff.

Directions
 

From Interstate 95, Exit 135 to Myrtle Beach Hwy/US 378 for 12.2 miles. Turn slight left onto SC-763 W for 5.6 miles. SC-763 W becomes SC-120 S. After 1.4 miles, turn left onto Golfair Rd. After .3 miles, turn left onto Golfcrest Rd. Sunset CC is on the left.
